First, our dinner on Friday night at La Gazette. Really nice food, the people were so nice to us. We would definitely eat there again.
Salad with humus and a bottle of Cote du Rhone
Smoked salmon, lentils and a poached egg. Delish! Who dreams up this stuff?
My plat was one of the specials, Pork with some amazing sauce, and great mashed potatoes.
Roast chicken with a wine/mushroom sauce. Also Amazing
Berry Sorbet/ coffee/ Port wine
Saturday, breakfast at Tanty on the corner. Here is the walk to the metro.
Our street, Ave. Alphland
Tanty, which has the best croissant in the city!!!!
Cross the street....Arc du Triomphe in the background
Porte Maillot Metro station
We are right on the edge of the 16th and 17th by the Arc on the upper left of the map.
Jill and Jay are staying down by Notre Dame which is on the Seine in the middle on the left bank
Easy subway ride down. We stopped at the Tulleries to get some information at the TI (tourist information).
He does this every trip!
Bastile, the Arc all lined up
such a beautiful day for a boat ride
Kept walking and went over the bridge that has a million locks on it. Couples are supposed to go there, lock a lock on the bridge and throw away the key into the river to signify they are bound together forever. It is getting a little crazy!
There really isn't a square inch left, and I heard they clean them off about every 2 months or so.
Of course, another revenue source for the gypsies
Now we had a pretty good idea where this place was (Vanderwilt's apartment), and while we didn't walk "right" to it, it was easy to find once we did.
Another street mime floating in thin air
Found the street
They won't starve on this street
Lots of people out today
Sign on the corner. Look at the bottom one.
Standing by the above sign, turn around and here is the Saint Michel Metro station
We were starving and we found....a hamburger joint! Not usual except McDonald's in Paris Just what we wanted today. Sat outside and had a burger, fries, and a coke. Wasn't cheap, but it tasted good.
Walked back to subway and got on, pooped again. Back in the neighborhood, we bought a chicken and some potatoes Lyonnaise (scalloped potatoes). Dinner in the apartment!
You think these look good, you should have tasted it. A lot better than a wonder chicken from Fareway!
I'm in the bedroom
Jerry in the living room!
Sunday, another nice day. Went out and found a new grocery store, and waited for Kristine Galiher to come. She got a ride from Amsterdam and will stay with us for a few days. So fun to see her. We met her at our little corner "living room" bar.
A hug from Kris
Eye candy for Jerry
Now we are back at the apartment waiting to go out for dinner. Really, that is about what we do around here, eat, and wait to eat. A few random pictures that don't fit anywhere.
Jerry punching in the first code on the street. Then there are 2 more doors with keys. Pretty safe place.
Courtyard windows from the courtyard
The elevator in the apartment is pretty little.
on the corner, the pastry
Macaroons, strawberry tart, cream/chocolate tart, citron tart, chocolate Napoleon and chocolate eclair
Can you say seafood?
Anyway, we are just hanging out today. Kris didn't get much sleep last night so early night for us, and then tomorrow....who knows? Au revoir!
